Abstract
Nearly two years ago, in RBML 9.1, we published an article by Allen and Patricia Ahearn on “Pricing Scarce and Rare Books and Manuscripts.” This has generated a tremendous response, mostly from people thanking the journal for offering information on this most important subject for our readers.
In fact, the readers of RBML are necessarily concerned with the values and costs of the objects they deal with. I distinguish between “values” and “costs” because there may be a significant variation in the two for a given item.
