Editor’s Note
Abstract
The present issue is concerned with various areas of control in special collections departments. The three articles presented here remind us of our responsibilities as librarians, perhaps the foremost of which is linking our departments’ holdings with our patrons. This linking requires adequate bibliographic control of the materials in our keeping.
Susie R. Bock and Susan Thach Dean discuss the control we must have over our departments’ archival records, those materials which contain information about the history of our collections, information about donors, readers, and administration, personnel files, data on equipment, supplies, and facilities, the department’s own history, and so . . .
